New Year Road Trip

This past week was the Chinese New year, which is a week long celebration. We did not have any classes so we decided to take a road trip down  south. We had so much fun and saw lots of festivities and I got to meet people that Bryce taught on his mission. We were gone for 4 or five days and we stayed with members and friends. We were treated like royalty and it was a great experience for Bryce and me. We traveled through the mountains and got to experience beautiful weather. I love our scooter!

I have no idea what this says, Bryce told me to stand in front of it. I do what I am told.

While we road through the mountains, I would snap pictures from the back of the scooter. It was so beautiful!

We went to a museum, the art work was amazing, but we weren't allowed to take any pictures inside.  This is an elephant if you couldn't tell.

These guys were walking down the middle of the market street with this really long dragon.

The roots on some of the trees here are incredible!

They have these mirrors on corners and curvy roads so people can see others driving on the road up ahead.  This is our scooter that we cruise around Taiwan on too!

Just another picture of my handsome husband.

Cindy's niece!  She has a twin and they were so cute!

This is a fruit that I have never seen before, I wanted to try some but the owner of the tree was not home.

These paper mache masks were pretty fun to play with!

Bryce drinking his dong gua cha at Ba Gua Shan.  It is right in front of a big Buddha that you will see in more pictures coming up.

Ming De Shui Ku = Most gorgeous place ever!

The dogs here love riding on the scooters!

Goats!!
Bunnies.  Bryce is so sensitive :)

Zhu Zhi Feng took us to a town (Da Hu) that was known for it's strawberries, everything was strawberries!!

I was taking this one home to eat!

Our supervisor, Cindy took us around her city, we went to a market place that had some amazing art work. This is a mammoth's tusks (legit mammoth tusk!) with engravings- gorgeous!!!

So detailed!

Wood carvings. This town (San Yi) is known for it's wood work.

Just doing some shopping with Cindy!

My favorite animal!
Bryce showing me places he visited as a missionary. He was serenading me.

Same piano when Bryce was a missionary!

Bryce did not want to do this pose.  He looks scared though, right?

These caramelized strawberries are so good!!!

Zero took us out to eat, this place had American food!

Time for fireworks!!!

Boys being boys

Sparklers!!

Planking

I'm a deer in the headlights when it comes to speaking Chinese!

More puppies falling in love with me.

I told ya the big Buddha pictures were coming...

This was inside the big Buddha on an altar for worship.

They had these little scenes of Buddha's growing up life with stories to read next to them.  It was very interesting.

Everyone does the peace signs here. I am turning Chinese!

Some of the idols they worship

OK this place was crazy, this place described what happens when you go to hell.

His tongue is being pulled out.

Just plain creepy!

You can guess how much Bryce wanted to do this pose too.

Karaoke is huge here in Taiwan!

So I was pretty excited about this. If you look closely, you can see the blur from the water flow, we worked on getting this effect with success!!!

This was at Lu Gang.  So many people come here to worship and shop!

Little old lady that Bryce complimented. Bryce told her that her hair was beautiful, he made her day.  He is so sweet.

Yeah those are arms coming out of his eye sockets!

What are you looking at?

Puppies!!

You pay money to get your name here so you can receive blessings.

So i thought this was cool, this guy paints the temple on fans and elders come here and have him paint fans for them. He has collected pictures of a lot of the missionaries that have come there.

The eggs in front of the woman were HUGE!!

These were movies for sale, some of the movies are still in theaters. They were on sale for about US 3.00.

This is a bread like food, I think they are pretty good. I like them because they are so pretty.

This is Brother Chen, this family let us stay in their home for 3 nights! They fed us and treated us so kindly.

This was a place out on the coast called Wang Gong.  Bryce ran his marathon out to this place and kept running along the coast.  It was a long ride out there even on our scooter!  Bryce said that he always wanted to take his wife there.  Guess what, he took me! ;)

This was a wonderful trip. Bryce and I took over 1,000 pictures so I might create another blog and put more pictures up. The week went by so fast but I love spending time with Bryce. I love making our own memories together!
